You guessed it, I’m pessimistic about optimism, or should I say concerned that optimism has left the building, much like Elvis.
When did you last hear any of the presidential candidates truly espouse optimism or for that matter any political figure, let alone the “media”? I know, you will point at Mr. Romney and say he made reference to it here and there, but as Barry Goldwater said “Wake up Conservatives”! We have no candidates on either side of the political fence that truly believes our best times are ahead of us. Even my close friends, think America is on the decline. Well, let’s just stop it! America’s best days are yet to come and as Americans we had better start thinking that way, or it will never happen.
Our politicians simply reflect the cynicism that we pour out to them. The world is heating up and we are all going to drown under a tidal wave of melting glacial ice, the worst war in history is upon us, the budget deficit will implode the Federal Government, the Chinese are taking over, all our jobs are going oversees, this is what we here day after day, but there is one small problem, its not true. Of course we need be alert to the ever changing economic and political landscape and take steps accordingly, but without a positive outlook, how can we possibly overcome those truly massive and legitimate hurdles that we must jump.
I don’t know about you, but I for one, am voting in ‘08’ for someone that has a positive outlook for America and its people.
